FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE 30th ANNIVERSARY HARMONY FESTIVAL ADDS TO STELLAR LINEUPReggae superstar Damian Marley, classic rock legends Jefferson Starship, Tibetan singer/activist Yungchen Lhamo, and actor/activist Danny Glover CONFIRMED June 6-8 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds, Santa Rosa, CA April 19, 2008 (San Francisco, CA) — Celebrating 30 years of new ideas, community activism, eco-awareness, spiritual wisdom, visionary art, and conscious music, the Harmony Festival http://www.harmonyfestival.com is very pleased to confirm for its anniversary celebration the addition of Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley (Grammy-winning youngest son of Bob Marley making his first ever North Bay appearance), Bay Area music legends Jefferson Starship, world renowned Tibetan vocalist Yungchen Lhamo, and actor/ activist/speaker Danny Glover. Previously announced musical performers include Grammy Award winners Angelique Kidjo, Paula Cole, and reunited hip-hop greats Arrested Development; world music legend and Academy Award winner Lila Downs; Jackie Greene (of Phil Lesh & Friends), Mickey Hart Band featuring Steve Kimock & George Porter (Grateful Dead, The Meters), funk legends George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic, Charlie Musselwhite (John Handy Award Best Blues Artist), KJ Denhert, The Devil Makes Three, Cipes and the People, Sacred Sunday “Church of Jerry” Gospel Tribute with Melvin Seals, and Saturday night’s Amazing Techno-Tribal Community Dance Party. In addition to Danny Glover, the Festival has now also added to its engaging speakers list The World Council of Elders comprised of indigenous leaders from the Hopi, Yaqui, Hawaiian and Mayan tribes; world renowned eco-architect Eugene Tsui and organicARCHITECT’s Eric Corey Freed; and authors Daniel Pinchbeck, Kevin Danaher (also Co-Founder Global Exchange), China Galland (also Director Images of Divinity Research Project), and raw food pioneers Victoria Boutenko and Matt Amsden. They join previously announced speakers Shiva Rea (the nation’s leading yoga instructor and director of The Global Mala Project) and visionary artists Alex & Allyson Grey. CEO Howard “Bo” Sapper explains, “I couldn’t be more thrilled with our line-up, having been a vendor for the first 5 years at what started as a sweet community based gathering, and now 30 years later to be the CEO of what has become a world class music and lifestyle festival that is truly "a party with a purpose”. Aside from presenting a wide range of environmental and health oriented interactive workshops the festival has further added to its “party with a purpose” mission through a collaboration with the Ghetto Youth Foundation in donating $20,000 of ticket sales to the non-profit organization The World Family Organization Ethiopian Orphans and Medical Care (www.theworldfamily.org), which will go towards the construction of an orphanage and community center in Gara Dima, Ethiopia. The festival will also plant one tree in Ethiopia for each ticket sold through its new partnership with Trees for the Future and will institute an event-wide greening program that includes the use of bio-degradable cups, plates and utensils, and alternative energy powered stages and attractions. As always, the Harmony Festival is a multi-generational, family-friendly gathering with a wealth of attractions including a dynamic kids zone and over 300 vendors and exhibitors, providing sumptuous food and an amazing shopping experience. There will also be a variety of interactive workshops in the Eco-Village and Healing Sanctuary, exploring the latest in environ-mental awareness and alternative health. There will also be film screenings, community dialogues, and of course the Saturday afternoon People’s Parade! There are a limited amount of $99, 30th Anniversary Special Weekend passes which include admission to all day and night shows. Day or night passes are $30. VIP packages start at $300 and include entrance to all shows, access to back stage viewing areas and hospitality service. Weekend on-site camping for tents, cars, campers is $30. RV’s are $75.
