This self-taught musician is known for her diary-entry songwriting style which influences her musical style, from psychedelic shoegazer rock to doom swing, depending upon ever-changing moods and instrumentation. Jennifer came to Sonoma county for an extended vacation at the beginning of 2009. After a series of incredibly fortunate events and bright sunny days, she decided to stay. She is accompanied by some of the regions finest musicians: Michael Lindner on bass, mandolin, and accordian (Aquavelvets, Mendocino Allstars), Alan Stassforth (slide guitars), and Jack Springett (drums). BOURGEOIS GYPSIES mixes slow-burning, porchsetting music with poignant punk lullabies that make you tap your feet, clutch your heart and shake your head all at the same time. The band formed when Arnold Mitchem, a high desert troubadour, collided with Kaisa MacDonald, the inn-keeping, firespinning spawn of a gypsy in the café of a clothing-optional hot springs resort. Thrown together for an impromptu open mic session, the two musicians realized that their styles clicked and their abilities complemented each other. Two CD’s, countless gigs and a few additional band members later the Gypsies are gearing up for prime time with their latest release, “Faulty Fairytales”. Their 2008 album was also named one of Jambase's "13 Best Debuts of 2008" alongside breakouts by Fleet Foxes and Everest, and her scorned-lover anthem "Burnt" appeared on a compilation album with Brett Dennen and Rodrigo y Gabriela. This native San Francisco band has made a name for itself by showing a command of different styles from 70's psychedelic rock and pop to soulful blues and country two-step, tied together with Bluhm's earthy, honest voice for a sound that is both classic and current. Bluhm and her husband (and fellow Grambler), Tim Bluhm, of the seminal California rock band the Mother Hips, also became familiar to Grateful Dead fans after sets with fellow SF musician/sometime-Grambler Jackie Greene during Phil Lesh and Friends' recent shows at The Fillmore. Their next album is planned for release in Fall 2009. In addition to playing as many outdoor festivals as possible, they always seek to do one thing: leave folks grinning. HYPERLINK "http://www.myspace.com/nickibluhm" NATASHA JAMES sold her first “roots music” song at around age 20 when she was living in London, before she moved to LA and then ended up in NYC, where she started to take things seriously. Then she moved to Sonoma county where she raised her two children, a single parent just like her mother had been, and devoted herself to that era of her life until a record deal literally dropped in her lap, which resulted in Bad Judgments with the hit single, The Restless Kind. Her latest album is Tequila Time. If you want to know more, she prefers to let the music do her talking!
