RANDOM RAB (2:00 am Friday) Emerging from his own distinct corner of the West Coast electronic music scene, Random Rab offers a powerful, timeless contribution to sonic exploration. Rab is a master of manipulating our temporal awareness, leading us into seemingly ancient worlds, where to our amazement, we find visible shreds of the future. Playing only his own originally produced music live, the depth and craftsmanship of this offering is remarkable. With an array of drum machines, samplers, sequencers, and instruments, it is a clear devotion to expression and perfection. The beats are smooth, bold, and overwhelming. The original vocals, melodies and hitting bass merge seamlessly into a tapestry of unique and unexpected journeys. http://www.myspace.com/randomrabmusic LUMINESQUE (11:15 pm Saturday) is a cutting-edge dance, fire and circus performing arts ensemble combining classical dance, belly dance, martial arts, exceptional fire dance technique, cirque, and visionary choreography. "Nature inspires me. I am only a messenger", he says. "To me, some songs are like clouds, some are like water". Since 1983 his reverence for nature leads Kitaro to annually give thanks to Mother Nature in a special "concert" on Mount Fuji: on the day of the August full moon he beats on the Taiko drum from dusk to dawn. http://www.myspace.com/kitaronetwork MEDICINE DRUM (with Wisdom) (9:45 pm Friday) Medicine Drum’s sound and style has always been individual and mystical. The profoundly organic performance given by these four friends has been evolving slowly over the last twenty years, since the young gentlemen met as toddlers in their hometown of Port Townsend, Washington. Nanda began recording conscious hip hop mixed with the influence of Tribal backbeat from the desert sounds of L.A. moontribe and the forest sounds of Northern California’s 13 moon tribe in the late 1990s. Their name comes from the Japanese expletive used in reaction to something surprising or outlandish. NANDA is joined by special guest, K’NAAN (see Main Stage bios) and will also play solo and with Antics between sets. http://www.myspace.com/nandatown LIQUID FIRE MANTRA (9:45 pm Saturday) Come peer into an Enchanted Mirror and witness the unraveling of emotion, revealing the fractals of the authentic self.
